The History of R. S. Williams Pianos

In 1873, The William Piano Company was founded in Oshawa, Canada. In 1888, Richard Sugden Williams took control of The William Piano Company and changed its name to the Canada Organ and Piano Company. A few years later, in 1909, the name again changed, and the company became known as R. S. William and Sons Ltd. [1] 

In 1931, the company closed its doors. A lack of demand for musical instruments, coupled with the Great Depression had taken too much of a toll on the company for it to recover. 

About R. S. Williams Pianos

R. S. Williams pianos were exported all over the world and were very popular in places like Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. In addition to upright and grand pianos, the company also produced a line of player pianos that were popular. Little else is known about pianos produced under the R. S. Williams name. [2]

Because there is so little information available about pianos produced by the R. S. Williams company, it is hard to place a monetary value on their instruments today.
