Steinway Baby Grand Pianos

Concert Hall Sound in a Residential Size

Steinway Grands have been the pianos of choice for concert pianists and performance venues since Henry Steinway formed Steinway & Sons in 1853. Fifty years later, the company recognized that there was a demand for smaller pianos that would still have the distinctive Steinway qualities.

Baby of the Family

In 1902, Steinway unveiled the Model O, filling the need for pianos under 6 feet in length. The Model O was followed by the Model M in 1912, the Model L in 1922 and then in 1936 the 5 foot, 1 inch Model S, the smallest Steinway Baby Grand to date.

Steinway baby grand size compared to a Steinway concert grand piano

Home Sweet Home

Steinway & Sons' ability to design and build a baby grand piano with the same tone, touch, volume and control as their concert grand has made the Steinway Baby Grand a popular choice for homes, apartments and smaller venues. The popularity of Steinway Baby Grands over the decades, paired with Lindeblad's four generations of experience restoring these "little" gems means there is a Steinway to fit every need.

To: The Lindeblads
Thanks to all of the Lindeblad family, I have a beautifully restored 1938 Steinway S piano. My journey in procuring this instrument was a most pleasant one.

When my wife, Anita, and I moved to our new house, we found we had a perfect place for a baby grand piano. Fortunately, Anita discovered you on the internet. She decided that I needed a special birthday present, so she showed me your website, and the rest is history, as they say.

Beginning with our initial meeting with Paul Lindeblad, then selecting the instrument and discussing my preferences for the finished product, all was executed in a most skillful and professional manner. Paul's workmanship is of the highest quality. He restored the instrument totally to my wishes in every aspect, including touch and brilliance.

After three years of my playing it, the instrument is sounding even better than when I first acquired it. The sounds of a Steinway are so wonderfully superior.

Please know that I would highly recommend the Lindeblads to anyone thinking about owning a piano quality and of lasting value.
