Our most discerning customers have very specific requirements for their Steinway restoration and we are happy to accommodate them.
We take care to understand the needs and preferences of our customers and tailor our hand-restoration to those needs. Unlike Steinway we restore both grand and upright pianos, and we offer a flexible restoration process.
No matter how you choose to tailor your Steinway restoration, Lindeblad will utilize our century of experience to make it perfect for you. We are not satisfied until you are satisfied. And beyond that, we stand behind our work with an industry leading warranty. We match Steinway's 5 year warranty on the soundboard and extend it an additional 15 years on all other parts.
Many customers prefer their Steinway to be restored to it's original specifications. Historical accuracy is not always possible using genuine Steinway parts, as Steinway has modernized some components over the years. When historical accuracy is the goal, we source parts from world-renowned manufacturers such as Renner and Bolduc.
In an era of mass production and paper thin veneers glued onto pressboard, the hand-carved detail, solid hardwood veneer, and precision workmanship of an early 20th century Steinway is utterly unsurpassed. We believe that a true restoration of one of these pianos must follow in that same tradition. Every aspect of a Lindeblad restoration is completed by hand. There is no automation. No heavy machinery. We will be able to tell you exactly who worked on every stage of your Steinway's restoration. Our master craftsmen have been practicing their artistry for decades, restoring more than 3,000 Steinways.
Restoring pianos to their original glory lies at the core of what we do. With over 20 craftspeople and 300 years of combined experience, craftsmanship is an essential part of what makes Lindeblad Piano what it is.
Being a third-generation Lindeblad, Eric has been learning the art of piano restoration his entire life. With over 40 years of craftsman experience, Eric is a master rebuilder with a specialty in action assembly and regulation.
With over 8 years of experience working for Steinway and over 20 years total as a refinisher, Mohamed is one of few people who can use color to take a piano with multiple wood types, and transform it into one, unified piece of art.

For most of our restorations the original Steinway soundboard is still in great condition.
We simply reinforce, repair and refinish the original soundboard.
If the soundboard needs to be replaced, we will hand craft it to Steinway's specifications. We use the exact same close-grain Alaska Sitka spruce, from the same suppliers as Steinway New York and Steinway Hamburg. In fact, our senior soundboard craftsman spent the first 30 years of his career making soundboards for Steinway.
After four generations and over a century of guiding our customers through the repair and restoration of Steinway pianos, great service has become a part of our DNA.
Whether you are a professional with highly technical questions, or a novice trying to figure out the basics, you will be able to rely on the friendly counsel of our piano experts. We pride ourselves on our ability to build relationships with our customers. This allows us to understand your unique requirements so that we can custom tailor your Steinway restoration.
“We had been searching for a restored Steinway for over a year. With Paul's help we chose a gorgeous 1922 Steinway that had been meticulously refurbished. It is a beautiful instrument, and we look forward to having it in our family for generations to come.”

New components are sourced from the best manufacturers in the world. Like Steinway, we use only Gold Series piano wire made by Mapes International from the finest Swedish steel and Diamond brand tuning pins made by Julius Klinke, the oldest piano component manufacturer in Germany. Also like Steinway, we use either a Renner or Steinway action depending on the piano and your personal preferences. For new pin blocks we use either Bolduc or Steinway, depending on whether you would prefer to duplicate the original pin block or utilize Steinway's modern design.
For custom made components like the soundboard, our senior soundboard craftsman, Galo Torres, utilizes techniques developed over 30 years crafting and installing soundboards at Steinway & Sons New York. We select the finest close-grain Alaskan Sitka Spruce from the same specialty wood supplier used by Steinway and hand taper each board from the crown to the rim, creating the perfect diaphragmatic design for each unique piano.
Finally, if we are restoring your piano's finish we will remove all previous finish and stain to expose the natural wood beneath. We can then custom stain the wood to match your preferences and apply a satin, or high-gloss finish.
As much care and attention to detail that went into the restoration goes into the final delivery of a piano as well. Whether across town in a truck, or overseas in the belly of a jet, our trained piano movers utilize the most advanced materials and techniques available to ensure the safe delivery of your grand or upright piano...anywhere in the world.

The restoration is not complete until your piano is set up and ready to be played. No matter how short and smooth the journey, we know that subtle adjustments are going to be necessary once the piano reaches its final destination. That is why we send a local registered piano technician to fine-tune and complete a detailed inspection of every piano we deliver.
By this point, we expect you will have a close personal relationship with your Lindeblad piano expert. We ask that you spend a few days with your newly restored piano. If you have any questions or concerns about the restoration, we will be eager to address them. We are not satisfied until you are satisfied..
Beyond that, your restored piano has a 5 year warranty on the soundboard and a 20 year warranty on all other parts and labor. We encourage you to call us if we can be of any assistance throughout the life of your piano.
Once your piano is delivered, we give you 30 days to play it and make sure everything is exactly as you wish. If not, simply let us know, and we will pick up the piano and give you a full refund. Additionally, when you buy a restored piano from Lindeblad you can, at any time in the future, exchange that piano for another of our pianos and apply the full price you paid to the exchange.
