For over a century, our family has been dedicated to a single craft: restoring the world’s finest pianos. But in today’s global world, that craft comes with a unique challenge. How do you buy a priceless, one-of-a-kind Steinway piano from a workshop in New Jersey when you live on the other side of the planet? How do you invest in an instrument you’ve never seen, touched, or played? The answer is simple, yet it’s the most powerful force in our business: Trust.

This isn’t just a blog post about logistics or shipping costs. This is the story of a philosophy passed down through generations, a promise that turns skepticism into confidence, and a look at how we’ve earned the trust of clients in over 15 countries—from Singapore to Australia to the United Arab Emirates. It’s a story that begins with my father, Paul Lindeblad.

Paul Lindeblad’s guiding principle: “I do the job like I’m doing it for myself.”

It’s been over four years since we lost my dad, but his voice and his principles guide us every single day. For those who never had the chance to meet him, Paul was the heart of our business. He was a master craftsman, but more importantly, he was an incredible listener who believed that our work wasn’t just about restoring pianos—it was about fulfilling dreams.

He once said, “I listen very intently to what you’re saying. I gather information, what your needs are, what kind of sound you like, all that sort of thing.”

This commitment to understanding the client was the foundation of his success, especially with customers who couldn’t visit our workshop. He built relationships on the phone, earning their confidence through his expertise and his unwavering integrity. We recently found a video from 2015, and it perfectly captures his spirit. In it, he explains his simple, yet profound philosophy:

“Some people say, ‘Boy, that’s pretty remarkable.’ People ask me about what I do, shipping pianos in different parts of the world. They said, ‘Boy, they didn’t even come to play the piano or anything?’ I said, ‘No. But they must really have a lot of trust in you.’ Like I said, I do the job like I’m doing it for myself. If you live by that premise, whatever work you do, you can’t go wrong.”

That principle, treating every piano as if it were destined for his own home, is the legacy he left us. It’s the promise that allows a client in Singapore to find us through a Google search and confidently purchase the piano of their dreams, sight unseen.

The ultimate test of trust: a 1916 Steinway’s journey to Singapore.

In 2014, that exact scenario played out. A client named Richard Armstrong from Singapore contacted us after finding us online. He was looking for a very special instrument: a vintage Steinway & Sons Model B. We sourced a remarkable piano for him, built in 1916, and began a complete restoration.

This wasn’t just a minor repair; it was a full rebirth of a nearly 100-year-old instrument. The work included:

  • A new Sitka spruce soundboard and bridges
  • A new Steinway action, pin block, strings, and tuning pins
  • A meticulously hand-rubbed lacquer finish on the cabinet and bench
  • Polishing of all the original brass hardware.

This was an $80,000 investment, including air freight and crating, made by a client thousands of miles away who had placed his complete faith in my father’s promise. He trusted that we would deliver an instrument that not only looked stunning but played with the power, nuance, and character he expected from a golden-era Steinway. That piano’s journey from our New Jersey workshop to its new home in Singapore is a testament to the trust that has become our hallmark.

Earning Trust Across Continents: From Australia to the UAE

That Singapore story is not an isolated one. Over the years, we’ve had the honor of shipping our restored Steinway pianos to clients all over the world.

We are proud to have delivered pianos to clients in Australia, Canada, China, the UAE, Germany, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the Philippines, Poland, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.

Each location represents a relationship built on trust and a promise fulfilled.

Just recently, we worked with Stephen Wilson in Australia, who, with our guidance, selected a 1923 Steinway Model A3 from our inventory to be custom-restored for his family. He never played the piano before it arrived at his home. His review on Google says it all:

“The Lindeblad team rebuilt the piano exactly as discussed, bringing new life to an instrument for its second century and delivering it to our home in Australia. The result is magnificent in every way: a faithful rebirth of the original instrument with a new soundboard expertly crafted by Galo. The sound and touch is amazing across all registers and levels of expression. The service was perfect in every way. Thank you Lindeblad for providing musical bliss!”

Stories like Stephen’s are why we do what we do. They are the modern-day embodiment of Paul’s legacy.

How We Make the Impossible Possible: Our International Piano Shipping Process

We understand the hesitation. Buying a restored Steinway is a significant investment, and doing so from another country adds layers of complexity and concern. How do you know you’ll love the piano? How can you be sure it will arrive safely? What if something goes wrong?

We’ve spent decades perfecting a process designed to eliminate every one of those worries. Here’s how we do it:

  2. Transparent, Custom Restoration: You are part of the journey. We provide updates throughout the process, ensuring the piano is being tailored to your exact specifications, from touch-weight to cabinet finish.
  3. Hear Your Piano Before it Ships: We hire professional pianists to perform on your finished piano and send you high-quality video and audio recordings so you can hear its unique voice and character before it leaves our workshop.
  4. White-glove International Shipping: We manage everything—from building a custom crate to handling customs paperwork and coordinating with specialized movers in your country for final delivery. All costs are transparent, with no surprises.
  5. Our Unmatched Guarantee: Trust is upheld through our guarantees. We offer a 20-year warranty on restored pianos and a 30-day money-back guarantee. If you’re not completely in love with your piano when it arrives, we will arrange for its return and provide a full refund.

My father believed that geography should never be a barrier to owning the piano of your dreams. Today, we carry that belief forward with every piano we ship, whether it’s down the street or across the world.

If you’ve been dreaming of a vintage, restored Steinway, don’t let distance stop you. Let us show you how trust, craftsmanship, and a century-old family legacy can deliver the perfect piano right to your door.
