(1) A note about Steinway patents:
Patents #1826848 (Accelerated Action, 1931), 2051633 (Diaphragmatic Soundboard, 1936), 3091149 (Hexagrip Pinblock, 1963) were invented by members of the original Steinway family. Diaphragmatic soundboards and hexagrip pinblocks have been common in most pianos since the expiration of the patents. Accelerated action was used until the 1980s by Steinway New York. Never used in the Hamburg, Germany, factory, accelerated action is no longer preferred by top pianists. Call us to discuss your restoration options.
(2) A note about non-Steinway manufacturer parts:
Renner, Abel and Bolduc parts are used in other brands such as Baldwin, Knabe, Mason-Hamlin, Chickering, and more. Our craftsmen will suggest original parts for your piano or the best replacements if original parts are no longer available.
