Family History |
In 1906, first generation Axel Lindeblad, at age 25, emigrated from Stockholm, Sweden to the land of opportunity-the United States of America. Since his youth, Axel was fond of all types of musical instruments and played most stringed instruments quite well.
This musical interest attracted him to pianos and player pianos. From 1920 to 1956, Axel worked out of his home in Brooklyn, N.Y. repairing pianos. In addition, he tuned upright and grand pianos in homes. In the early 1930's, Axel purchased property in Randolph, N.J. as a vacation spot during the summer months.
Axel's son, second generation, Ed Lindeblad began following his father's footsteps in the piano business during his teenage years. In 1951, Ed moved to the property his father purchased in Randolph. In the early 1950's, Ed commuted to Steinway Sons in New York City. Then in 1954, he started independently restoring pianos at a facility in Dover, N.J. Almost ten years later, Ed decided to build a restoration shop onto his house in Randolph. It was later at this shop that Ed's son, Paul, learned the family trade. |

As a young man, third generation Paul Lindeblad, would work in the rebuilding shop and tune pianos in homes, schools, and concert halls. From 1981 - 1998, Paul operated his piano business in Fairfield, N.J. To accommodate the growing business, he decided to move to a larger facility in Pinebrook, N.J. |

Lindeblad Piano Restoration is in its fourth generation. Paul's sons, Todd and Sean, have been learning the art of piano restoration ever since they were young teenagers. After graduating high school, both sons proceeded to University to study Business. In 2004, Todd graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Marketing and Sean completed two years at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Both sons are working full time in the family business, mastering the craftsmanship passed through the generations. Lord willing, the Lindeblad family will carry on the tradition of bringing back the beauty of vintage pianos. |
