Axel Lindeblad, the family patriarch, was 25 when he left Stockholm, Sweden and immigrated to the United States in 1906. He had a passion for music and was an accomplished player on most stringed instruments.

Pursuing this love of music, Axel worked tuning upright and grand pianos for owners in their homes and repairing pianos out of his home in Brooklyn, N.Y from 1920 to 1956. In the early 1930's, he purchased property in Randolph, N.J. as a family vacation spot for the summer months.

Axel's son, Ed Lindeblad followed his father's footsteps in the piano business during his teenage years. And he moved to the property his father purchased in Randolph, N.J. in 1951. During the early 1950's, Ed worked for Steinway & Sons, but in 1954, he started independently restoring pianos at a facility in Dover, N.J. Almost ten years later, Ed built a restoration shop onto his house in Randolph and it was here his two sons, Paul & Eric, learned the family trade.

As third generation sons, Paul and Eric Lindeblad worked as young men in the rebuilding shop and also tuned pianos in homes, schools, and concert halls. To accommodate the growing business, they moved to a larger facility in Pine Brook, N.J.

Lindeblad Piano Restoration is now in its fourth generation. Paul's son Todd and Eric's son Pete also began learning the art of piano restoration as teenagers. After graduating from high school, Todd entered college and earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Marketing from Montclair State University in 2004. And today, Todd and Pete both work full time along with their fathers, mastering the quality craftsmanship that has been carefully passed through each generation.

In 2009, Levi Gelineau and Rich Zielenkievicz joined the business as a valued asset and Lord willing, Lindeblad Piano Restoration will continue the tradition of restoring the beauty of vintage pianos to new like condition.
