A restored piano is most commonly a vintage, quality brand name piano like Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Knabe, Chickering and a few select others that is completely disassembled by hand and painstakingly rebuilt piece by piece. Old, worn parts are replaced with high quality new ones, but with careful attention to meeting original specifications. Then a lustrous, new finish is added to the cabinet. Dampp-Chaser
Humidity is the number one enemy for a piano. If not held in check, it causes sticky keys, sluggish action, cracked soundboard, damaged pin block, rusted strings, and rusted pins.
